DigiAgriFoodCH
In order to generate added value from the data of the Swiss agricultural and food sector, various measures must be implemented. Six of these will be included in the #DigiAgriFoodCH transformation program. The implementation of these measures forms the basis for the digital transformation of the entire sector.
agridata.ch - A secure data exchange platform
Today, sometimes identical data has to be recorded several times in different systems. Data exchange between the systems is difficult. With agridata.ch, all players in the Swiss agricultural and food sector should be able to exchange data securely and efficiently. This creates the basis for interoperability and thus for the implementation of the only-once principle. agridata.ch is comparable to the rail network of a railroad. Thanks to the standardization of the rail network infrastructure, trains can run everywhere. Standardization is also necessary for data (eCH standards) and the infrastructure for data exchange will be agridata.ch. The data remains stored decentrally in the various systems. The data exchange platform is only used for the secure and controlled exchange of data.
Data standards for the agricultural and food data space
In order for data to be exchanged between different applications, it must also be managed uniformly. This requires jointly defined data standards. Further explanations on data standards can be found here Data standards – Digitization of the Swiss agri-food sector (digiagrifood.ch).
Revise the legal basis
The legal basis must also be adapted so that the various measures can be implemented. In future, the individual applications will no longer be listed in the legal bases, but rather which data is used for which purpose.
Provision of digital services
The FOAG’s current application landscape comprises 14 applications with an average age of nine years. All applications were developed independently of each other and function as stand-alone silos.
The aim is to renew the entire application landscape in a user-oriented manner, taking into account technological developments in an overall system. In addition to increasing user-friendliness and flexibility, the focus is on a high level of security.
Involving all stakeholders in the digital transformation
The communication platform digiagrifood.ch is one of the measures to involve the players in the Swiss agricultural and food sector in the digital transformation and actively promote knowledge about digitalization.
Anticipating the future
In the agricultural and food sector, there are many innovations and advances in the field of digitalization. So far, however, there has been no systematic approach to making the current new digital developments available to the players. This requires a technology and research management radar.
